Vahan Melkonyan

I have known Vahan for a short amount of time, but he has become one of the coolest people I’ve met. I’ve watched him help with some really cool builds and he is always down to help one of his friends when they need it. Watching him drive is always a good time. Plus, who on earth would hate the sound of a turbo. The answer is no one.

Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Vahan Melkonyan. I live just outside of Memphis, TN but I’m from a country called Armenia. I moved to Memphis around the year 2000.

What do you do for work?

I’m a mechanic. I run a service truck for a fleet shipping company.

How long have you been driving?

I first started driving when I was around 14-15 years old and I’ve been into cars ever since I could remember. I think my obsessions started around 5-6 years old.

what got you into cars?

I honestly don’t remember what got me into cars. Growing up and coming from a mechanic family probably did me in. .

What has been your favorite event/track?

My favorite track so far would probably be Midpond, although I haven’t been to a lot of them. I would love to go to Cam’s Acres in Oklahoma.

What’s been your favorite build?

My favorite build so far has been my Zenki 240sx that I LS swapped with a turbo. This car is very clean to start and will be a nice daily street car with A/C and all the creature comforts I can stuff in it.

What’s your take on the car community?

The car community has changed a lot. Probably the same thing our parents would say though. The difference now is there’s a lot of negativity in the community now though. Ton’s of positives too but the negatives are the things that bring the people’s attention which doesn’t help us out. Slide shows are single handedly ruining it for the car community as a whole.

What’s next for you?

My goal is to hopefully own my own business doing fabrication and building cars.
